The Lament for Icarus. Herbert Draper ~ 1898 (click twice to come closer)

Poor son of Daedalus,
whom the annuls name hubris,
scorning your overweening flight.

Dry history, on its shy shelf,
would not dare to court a star
and thus blames pride for your wild height.

What if the sun chose a mere mortal
to steal away with for the night?
Perhaps your blindness was love not light.
