I Almost Forgot!

Some of you may remember that I was taking a pottery class last fall. I had meant to post pics of some of my final pieces but with grandma and dad's deaths, some things just fell through the cracks.

Though life got complicated, I really enjoyed taking a second wheel class and though I sometimes got frustrated at my own lack of perfection (who? me? I know you're shocked) all in all I could see vast improvement from my first batch of work. I was able to pull taller, larger pieces and I even made a few bowls. My vessels were more shapely, had more integrity and strength. At least some (though not all) of my glaze combinations were quite interesting. Besides, I was quite prolific. I went through over 100 lbs of clay, made over forty mugs, four bowls, ten kala cups and other random, lumpy bits.

This is a shot of about half of what I created in the 10-week class.

I would love to continue with pottery but I am unsure if I can afford to continue (or if I can make the time). I'll be hoping that I can get back to the wheel before too long. It does feed me. In the mean time, you can see details of some of my pieces

A few bowls...

A bee mug...

I like this shape...

An oak mug...

This was for Tari...I tried to reproduce one of her tattoo images in the bottom of the cup...

Temoku twins...

Some of my mugs had bee hive like shapes and the yellow salt glaze accented that nicely...

I've seen worse for sale places. They don't look like beginner work to me, they look lovely.

omg!! these are so sweet! my very favorite ones are the beehive shaped ones...yes, the shapes are sassy, but i like the glaze, too.

you know, clay was my first medium. i just loved it! i used to work at the lill street studios, but that was over 20 years now.

anyhow, these are awesome pieces...and so many!

Great work! I really like the blueish mug back by the bowls and the green one that seems to stick out on the right side of the picture. You really did some good work, and your improvement from your first class shows!

Wow, that's beautiful work. Well shaped and I love the glazing you did, especially that rusty green mug. I also really like the spiral detailing you did on the bowl.
