Sneak peek...R&J

The set for R&J is amazing, and very fun to work with. It was designed by TUTA's Martin Andrew whose work is always stunning.

The first professional play that I ever saw was Macbeth at TPAC. I will always remember the first time that I experienced the house lights dimming as music and lights came to life on stage - thus transporting us to an alternate world. I was spellbound and every hair on my body stood on end. I lost all sense of time and I lived completely in that world with those characters for a time.

The other night we were doing a run of R&J and as the house lights faded out to haunting strains of opening music...as the warm glow of the strip lights caught the drama of the smoke-machine induced mist and our first actor crept onto stage I could not help but grin from ear to ear. The hair on my neck and arms lept to attention and a breathtaking tingle spread through me. Many things may change about me, but this never seems to. Much though I may wonder if I am talented enough to really hold my own in professional theatre, I certainly never question my passion and hunger for it. Truly, that magic feeds me in a way that no other does.

Because I am so excited I had to snap some shots of the set to share. This is the first night it was up, so it has changed, and lights and costumes add quite a bit. Still, you can

Thanks darlin' - I so wish you could be here too (for more reasons than the show of course). I think it will be a good one, and it would be so fun to talk to you after to see what you thought of Z's changes...

I miss you!

I wish I could figure out a way to go. I'm not ruling it out just yet. And who did the awesome Mendi in the photo on the TUTA website?

Awww...you are too sweet. I know it is a trek to get here but wow I'd love to get to see you.

Z (our director) found the Mendi photo on line...but I don't know where. He doesn't know the artist, he just loved the image.
