I know that many of you are aware of happenings at the RNC and the abuse of non-violent protestors there, including the attack of a local friend and activist.

If you have interest in supporting freedom of speech and the right to non-violent protest, please consider one or both of the following actions:

First,

Beloveds,

The legal teams for the RNC-protests have requested that anyone willing to take a few moments to help support our comrades in police custody make the following 3 phone calls and inform these officials of our list of citizens demands. (Contacts and demands below.)

We also ask that anyone who is able, after making these calls, please join in with the solidarity group gathered outside of the jail. The location of the jail is 425 Grove St. (corner of Grove and Pine). As people are released it is good to remember that they may well have experienced extreme and various forms of trauma; physical, mental and psychological. Healers, care givers and energy workers are especially useful in supporting our community members as come out of incarceration. For more information on the jail solidarity or if you have any questions call Lindsey at 763-913-6849.

Every kind face and warm body makes a difference; lets show them that they are not alone!

The 3 people to call:

Mayor Chris Coleman
651-266-8510

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher
651-266-9333

Ramsey County Chief Judge Gearin
651-266-8266

The list of demands:

1. We demand the immediate medical attention for the arrestees (they have been lying to people saying that the arrestees have been treated, this is inaccurate, do not believe them as there is evidence to the contrary.)
2. We demand that arrestees be allowed to meet in groups with their lawyers.

3. We demand that all transgendered and queer identified arrestees be allowed immediate access to lawyers and be placed in safe, non-hostile areas. (There have been numerous and disturbing reports of torment and violence against arrestees perceived as queer or transgendered. The harassment must stop.)

4. We demand the release of all minors from the adult correctional facilities and that they be tried in juvenile court, as is required by law. (At least two known minors have been tried in adult court and sentenced to 30 days in an adult correctional facility.)

5. We demand a dismissal of all charges and that the arrestees be released from custody without paying bail.

Be once again reminded that lying has been a common tactic throughout the week. It is by persistence the peoples voice carries power in these matters. Please send this on to other members of our community so that we may all stand in solidarity with our caged and brutalized comrades.
Many, many thanks!

Secondly,

Hello All -

Like many of you, I have been very caught up in happenings at the
RNC. I have been very inspired by the bravery and integrity of the
non-violent protesters who have joined there to make their voices
known and who have done work to bring earth consciousness to the
attending leaders and officials. I have also been shocked and
horrified at the way that they are being treated by the police and I
want to take action.

I have been calling the numbers that are being passed about and have
voiced my complaints and given my demands to officials. It is hard
to get through to some lines, but I hope folks will continue to
try. I do think we can make a difference.

I am also hoping that we can do more together...that we can do that
thing that we do so well; that we can engage this action with an
equal action of magic and love of our own.

Someone on LJ suggested that we coordinate a working tonight to send
energy and support to our kin in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area. I
know it is short notice, so gathering in person may not be feasible -
but I am wondering if we can coordinate and do this work together
even if we are not face to face.

I would like to suggest a working that begins at 9PM CST tonight
(Wednesday, September 3rd). We could each do this working in our own way
(s) from our homes or other sacred sites. Perhaps we can focus our
energy on Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Folks have mentioned using our
combined will to ask for the release of those who have been
unlawfully detained and of unlawfully seized property, as well as
the cessation of harassment and abuse of peaceful protesters. Folks
have also asked for clarity and compassion for all those at the RNC
and that the upwelling of earth wisdom will continue and thrive. I
would like to ask for healing and deep love, for those on site and
for those of us who are holding them – even from so far away.

Despite anger and disgust, we can still know love. We can support
Jason - who is dear to many of us - and others who may need medical
assistance and comfort.

Are some of you willing to join this action? Can we unite our hope
and prayers at 9:00 tonight, and if so - what are other things that
we can align and ask for?

In the darkest times, love shines bright. All my best ~ Jen

May our work be blessed and may our love bring change.

Thanks for posting this. I'm disgusted and outraged by what happened. This is wrong on so many levels, and I am sick to see this country degenerate into a police state.

Oh yes, please feel free to pass this along (or re-write it...I was rushing so I'm not at my most eloquent).

I would want as many folks as possible to join. I've heard from some people across the country who plan to join and it eases my heart a bit to know that we'll all stand together in this.

Thank you for gathering others. Love, J

I will certainly send prayers and healing thoughts tonight at 9:00. I will also link this on my LJ.

I have a friend working the protests as a field medic. I'm wondering now how she is.

Thanks for posting this. arianadawnhawk and I did a working last night which included the RNC protesters.
I'm wondering what's going to happen. Scarecrow was taken 2 days ago, and the 36 hour window in which they have to charge him or release him is rapidly approaching, if it hasn't passed already.

Thank you both for joining the working. Did you see the most recent update on Jason from Starhawk?

Jason Scarecrow is still in jail, still as far as we know has not received
medical treatment for his wounds, including a gash in his foot and remaining
bits of copper from the taser in his hip, but sounds in good spirits and we
hope to see him get out today. He was tasered seven times by the police in
the street when he was not resisting their unprovoked arrest, and beaten up
badly for no evident reason.

Thats what I know. ~ J
