Could basil be better than sex?

Today was the first day of the Farmers' Market in Daley Plaza so I had to stop by...

Not much is out in the way of produce, though there was some HUGE, purple-tipped asparagus lying about that was positively pornographic!

While I went with the intention of not giving over to gross consumerism...I was beguiled by several greenlings, whose seductive siren calls easily slipped past my will.

And so, sitting on my desk and smiling smugly are:

~ Basil (one small, one giantess)
~ Beefsteak tomato
~ Moonflower
~ Mint
~ Purple sage
~ Flat-leaf parsley
~ Lavender
~ Rosemary
~ Gerber daisy (pinky/orange/yellow)

While we have seeds sprouting...my desire for hearty, established beauties was simply too great to resist (particularly given Chicago's brief and fleeting growing season).

The perfume of basil is filling up my cubicle and wafting out beyond it. Ahhh, these Genovese hussies are obviously sending erotic promises to my neighbors. They are gorgeous, delightful, and clearly...quite slutty.

Ryan and I were just walking by the Daley Plaza yesterday. Good to know there's a farmer's market there. Although it's looking more like I'll be working in the 'burbs.

Yes, Farmers' Market in Daley Plaza every Thursday...

Here's a link to all Chicago Farmers' Markets...maybe you'll find one that really suits your new schedule...

Sweet! There's one in walking distance, although the times may not work out once I've got a job. But I'm sure I can find something else once I know what area I'll be in.

Any time you'd like those pots, they'll be ready for you (I just need to figure out which ones to keep to plant my own basil and mint...).

Wonderful! I am having surgery next week - so it may take me a bit to coordinate efforts - but I'd like to come and get them soon.

When are you moving to Madison?

I didn't realize your surgery was that soon (it seemed like it was taking them forever just to set up the MRI...). I imagine you'll be super happy to have it over with.

Moving in mid-August, so don't worry about the pots if it's one too many things right now. They will be hanging out on the back steps over here until you're ready for them.

You are wonderful, thank you. I'll be in touch (once the drugs wear off) about the pots! Have a great weekend - Love, J

It was still light out there - but they'll get better every time. I am counting the days until berry season!

See you tonight - Love, J

Me too...

I hope I can do some lazy gardening next week that doesn't push me too hard, but still gets things done. I'm over-eager!
