TUTA Benefit (with pics!)

My weekend was dominated by the TUTA benefit, which went well (but was quite exhausting). I had offered to do all the cooking for the event (yes, I'm insane), which made my week a chaotic blur of planning, shopping and kitchen-time. Luckily on Friday, I had the assistance of the lovely artemis112 and tarirocks (thank you ladies!), but I was still up until after 2 AM.

Saturday morning saw more cooking, until I had to head down to the TUTA space in the afternoon. When I arrived I was very impressed by the efforts of the TUTA folks who were on the decorating committee. They had taken props and costumes from all our old shows and had used them to create a colorful and eclectic space which felt very representative of TUTA and our past works. It was lovely (and perhaps bittersweet) to walk through the memories and magic we had made together. Photos don't do it justice, but if you'd like to see photos of the space before folks have arrived

The food turned out okay. There were things I was not pleased with, but folks were very complementary. The theme of the benefit was "Spring Fever", so I opted for "elegant picnic fare". I was especially pleased that the "spring Bruschetta" (one of my original recipes; apples, asparagus and arugula in a white pear balsamic, olive oil, garlic base on crostini) was a big hit. If you're a food geek and would like to see my food tables you can

Savory fare...

All in all, I think we Tutians throw a good party. We're friendly, inclusive and encouraging of libation and merriment. One company member did a great job of providing music (ambient at first, "dance party" tunes later). We had some wonderful live performances by Tutians and friends of Tutians, and of course the obligatory silent auction/raffle goings-on that are typical of benefits. For some shots of the Tutians

I wish I could tell you I had a ball at the party, but tarirocks and I were ripping and running almost non-stop, so I was too busy to get into the flow very much. I did tend to dance my way to and from the food tables, which was fun - and relaxed a bit after my performance with a glass of bubbly. The dress, which I posted about last week did not make me drop-dead stunning, nor did it rub my feet or do my dishes (stupid dress). It was comfy though and "spring-like" so I can't complain too much. If you'd like to see more shots of me in said dress,

That dress is gorgeous! I'm sure that in its excitement at adorning you it just forgot to do the dishes.
