Cast members from TUTA's "The Wedding" run lines back stage.

I am laying out the altar again
for our ancestors of art,
who snuffed the smoke of footlights
and trod the boards with heart.

This cloth, a faded velvet
whose dust could speak the rhyme
of twenty thousand Hamlets
trying "to be’s" back through time.

I will light the flaking candle
and with greasepaint mark a sign,
burning frankincense for muses,
pouring Dionysus wine.

Take our brave and naked offerings;
dreams of laundry, food and sleep.
Take our risk, our hope, our yearning
and our fears that sometimes creep.

May our text to lips come ready,
may our comic timing snap.
May our monologues be heady
as we follow Brecht’s wild map.

Oh, I love this one.

'twenty thousand Hamlets/trying "to be's" back through time'

Very nice, very nice indeed. Clever, pretty and a sense of love of your art and craft, all at once.
