Damn...I taste good.

I haven't been posting much these days. I have much that I'd like to share, but very little time to do so. It might seem trivial therefore that I would choose to create a post about lip balm - but I am.

Watch me...

I don't do much shopping these days outside of procuring groceries. Unless I really, really need something - I try not to buy much (especially new items). I do however buy hygienic products (for which I'm sure you're all very glad) and my favorite place to do so is LUSH. Yes, they are corporate (and not cheap) - but I really like their values (reduced packaging, organic/fair-trade/vegan/bio-degradable products, diverse advertising, no animal testing, handmade products, community support, etc.) One of our local stores collects used LUSH containers and gives them to schools for art projects and more (and will give you freebies for bringing those empties back). They tend to have good customer service but most of all I like their stuff (and much of it does what it promises to do).

LUSH informs folks about the impact of packaging on the environment with their "Naked Truth" campaign

You astro geeks out there will recall that 50% of my natal chart is ruled by Venus...so I cannot help but love things that make my skin soft and make me smell pretty (non-astro geeks can commence with the eye-rolling now). That being the case, this year I decided that a visit to LUSH would be my holiday treat to myself. I picked up some moisturizer and shampoo and since we are in the after-Christmas sale/give-away frenzy, they gave me a free lip balm called Let Them Eat Cake. I must tell you, this lip balm is delectable. Besides keeping my lips protected against the Chicago elements, it has left me tasting of vanilla, currants, sultans, orange and lemon. It's like I have a happy, dancing, (vegan) figgy pudding on my face (in a good way).

And so in summary, if you bathe and are a greenie...you might want to give LUSH a glance some time (or not, your mileage may vary). Regardless, let this be a reminder for you today: Smile, take a breath, reach out and KISS SOMEBODY! (you never know who might be right next to you and tasting of the divine...)

I hadn't been to a LUSH store in forever, but there was one just down the street from our hotel in San Francisco. Divine. I have two coveted bath bombs sitting upstairs awaiting use. Yumm.

They are pricey. Last year they had an amazing after-Christmas sale that was basically buy-one-get-one-free. I was hoping for a repeat this year...but no. The only item I always buy from LUSH is my face lotion. I really like the idea of not rubbing a bunch of animal-tested, chemical goop on my face.

They are such a sensual delight (and often ethical to boot)...what a great place for sticky one to play!

I was using "Honey Trap" at camp...my favorite balm from LUSH. Had they not offered me this one for free I likely wouldn't have tried it (given how satisfied I am with the honey stuff)...but it is very tasty. It may be making me hungry though...hmmmm.

Thanks for this. I had no idea that LUSH had friendly values. I just figured they were another trendy soap shop so I've never given them a second glance.

I love LUSH. Sadly (or happily for my wallet) I don't live near one. I have been out of my favorite Honey Trap lip balm for way too long now. I've put it on wish lists but it has never appeared. Whenever I think to go online to order it for myself I'm usually broke and it seems silly to mail order one little tin of lip balm and they discontinued the shampoo I liked :(

I was in at least 2 different LUSH stores when I was in the UK in 2006. They are everywhere over there. It was heaven!

And my moon in Taurus (ruled by Venus) and my Venus in Libra in the 2nd house of comfort agrees with you wholeheartedly that things that make me smell good are a true and needed pleasure in life. :D

It is perhaps lucky for your wallet given your Venus placement (triple whammy there, eh?)! Perhaps artemis112 and I should start a LUSH smuggling operation. MWWWWWWAHAHAHA!

Oh I've been tempted to ask, LOL
That also limits me to the item I know I want and not the 5 other things I find between my item and the cash register. :D

There is nothing un-spiritual about shmutz. I know that some witches would like us to be total ascetics, living lives of material harshness, above all of the base comforting desires of balms and salves, hand creams and bath salts.

I say this is a poor reading of what it is to be a witch. Do not feel bad or less of a witch for adoring hand-creams and lip balm. The Universe and the gods gave you a lovely body and soul. The least you can do is take care of the skin that packages your body and soul.

I do a earth meditation, wherein I smear mud-mask on myself, and bless the earth and my body as earth. It is very grounding and affirming. Plus, one should never underestimate the power of clean pores. I follow up with a nice rich moisturizer, so as to balance out with water energy.

It is also nice to smell and taste good. In an effort to be a Flaming Vessel of Ecstasy it is the hospitable thing not gross ones partners out with BO or other funkiness. So perfume and bath products abound in my ecstatic world. Soft skin and inviting lips are also a bonus.

So think of your lush trip as an act of worship to the Gods and Goddesses of Ecstasy.

Now I think I shall partake of the radical act of applying full-body cream, massaging it in and enjoying every inch of it. I will then put on my red, candy-cane flavored lip balm.
